What’s Film Matching? We encourage everyone to shoot film! The tones are so beautiful and quality is unparalleled, but we understand that shooting film isn’t an option for everyone for everything. So we are introducing Film Matching! This lets hybrid shooters achieve a film look on their digital files. Post. is created from the founders of Indie Film Lab, and what better company to handle your digital to film conversion than a film lab.
I don’t shoot film, but I would love to have my digital files look more like film. Is this possible? Yes, we can work with you to get the film look you want. Fuji, Kodak and Ilford are the big film players, and we have profiles for every major film stock and also some older films that are harder to find. Send us some files and let’s get started on building a personal profile for your work.
I don’t want my digital to look like film. Do you offer do just digital post processing? Absolutely. We have been dealing with .RAW files and digital color for years in our own work as well as for clients. The founders of Indie and Post. are photographers that have shoot both film and digital since 2003.
What is the best way to insure my files will look how I want? One of the reasons you outsource your digital post processing is remove editing from your personal workflow, right? For this reason, we work closely with you to make sure files are headed to you without any extra work left for you. We do like to see some before and after images of your work in different lighting conditions—outside sunny, outside overcast, inside under tungsten lighting, inside natural light and possibly a studio shot if you shoot in studio often. Send us the before and after that best represents your work and we’ll handle the rest.
How do I send my files? We love Dropbox, but there are lots of ways to send files—Hightail, You Send It, etc. Did we mention Dropbox? Include your link in the Link section of the order form and we will take care of the rest. You’re welcome to send hard drives, thumb drives or DVDs directly to the lab. For best results, we recommend sending .RAW files—they have the most information for us to create the look you want. Can we work with .jpgs? Of course we can handle jpegs, but we encourage .RAW files for more accurate color and consistent quality.
How do I receive my edited images? Your files are hosted on our server and we will email a simple one-click download link—super easy!
What are Mobile Previews? Once your order is complete and the files are uploading, we text or email you a mobile gallery of your work. Super rad, right? Our clients over at Indie Film Lab love this feature and we wanted to offer this to as part of our Post. process as well.
Additional info: For digital post processing, you can choose to be sent .jpgs or .xmp files. With film matching and film conversions, we send .jpgs as a final product. Film conversions are done using custom camera profiles not included on a standard computer. If you want to know more about this, give us a call and we can talk you through it!
